How to Add a Countdown Timer in Flodesk.
If you want to create a sense of urgency for important promotions in your creative business, one really effective way to do that is to use a countdown timer in your emails, to gently nudge your readers to take advantage of your offer by the expiration deadline.
I made a short video to walk you through the set-up in Flodesk, my favorite email marketing service, using an app called MotionMail. It requires a very simple workaround that I recently learned about, so I wanted to share this with you. It’s suuuper easy to set up.
As you can see, you start by customizing the settings within MotionMail, based on the date and time of your promotion, and the way you want the timer to look.
Once you’ve done that, just copy the code that is generated by the app. Remove the initial character in the line of code, and paste the rest of the code into a text field in Flodesk. Then, you’ll need to manually insert the first character that you previously deleted so that it is inserted before the line of code (no spaces in between). Do not copy and paste the character. It needs to be typed in). Finally, press enter and your timer should magically appear in your email.
