Customizable Website Templates

Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a website template is a creative and strategic investment—and naturally, you’ve got questions. Here are some of the most common ones to help you feel confident before you buy.

Requirements

  • Our process is simple: we provide beautifully designed Squarespace templates that you can customize with ease—no design degree required.

After purchasing your template, you'll receive:

    • A demo preview of the layout inside Squarespace

    • A step-by-step guide to help you install and personalize your new website

    • Access to support and helpful resources (including a free mini-course!)

If you can drag, drop, and edit text or images, you already have what it takes. Want a quick preview of how it works? Sign up for [How to Get Started on Your Portfolio Website]—you'll get a peek inside the Squarespace dashboard and template interface.

  • Yes! Squarespace lets you manage multiple websites from one account. Your new template will appear as a separate site in your dashboard.

However, content doesn’t transfer automatically. You’ll need to:

    • Copy/paste page content manually

    • Export/reimport shop products via CSV (if needed)

    • Manually re-add blog posts (there’s currently no auto-transfer option)

If you have a large blog or shop, this can take time. Reach out if you’d like help deciding whether to start fresh or migrate.

  • Both platforms are powerful, but they serve different needs. It all depends on:

    • How much creative control you want

    • How important ecommerce or blogging is to your business

    • Whether simplicity or flexibility matters more right now

I’ve broken down the pros and cons of each in this side-by-side blog post: [Read the Squarespace vs. Wix comparison →].

  • This depends on how tech-savvy you are and what features your website needs. WordPress offers more customization, but it also requires more technical upkeep. Squarespace is a smoother, more beginner-friendly option—with automatic updates and built-in tools.

Most of my clients find Squarespace easier to learn and maintain. I explain it all in detail in this blog post: [Squarespace vs. WordPress →]

  • You don’t need a domain or existing account to begin. When you purchase a template, you’ll:

    1. Create a Squarespace account (you’ll qualify for a 20% discount with my affiliate link).

    2. Use your free trial (which I can extend to 6 months).

    3. Start customizing your template with your own content and images.

Tip: Gather your text and images in advance to make setup smoother!

  • All my templates are built on Squarespace 7.1, the most current and flexible version.

    Why it’s better:

    • Global style editing (change fonts/colors across the whole site easily)

    • Faster setup

    • Capacity for up to 10,000 products—ideal for growing businesses

Squarespace still supports 7.0 sites, but 7.1 offers a much more user-friendly experience overall.

  • Squarespace has an easy guide to help you check your current version. You can find it [here].

  • No—we provide the design. Your site will be hosted by Squarespace.

  • Not at first. You can work on your site without a domain, and Squarespace often includes a free custom domain for the first year when you sign up for an annual plan.

  • If your domain is not a Squarespace domain (for example, your provider might be Go Daddy) —you have two options:

    • Transfer your domain to Squarespace (easier long-term management)

    • Connect it from your current provider.

Your template kit includes links to Squarespace’s step-by-step instructions for both.

  • Yes. In addition to the one-time purchase of your template, you’ll need:

    • A Squarespace website subscription (monthly or annual)

    • A domain (free for new Squarespace users the first year with annual billing)

💡 Bonus: If you use my affiliate link, I can extend your free trial to 6 months.

  • Nope! Most templates are fully customizable using Squarespace alone.

If you’d like to tweak graphics (like logos or headers), I recommend using Canva. The free version is usually enough, but you can always upgrade to Canva Pro if needed.

  • No coding required! Your template is ready to use out of the box. Any small code customizations will already be included when you receive it.

  • Yes! If you'd rather skip the DIY route, we offer a White Glove Setup service. We’ll install your template and get your site ready to launch—so you can focus on your creative work.

  • There may be a temporary dip in your rankings while search engines index the new site—but don’t worry, this is normal and typically improves over time.

    To minimize disruption:

    • Keep your page URLs the same where possible

    • Set up 301 redirects for any changed links

    • Optimize your new content before launch

Squarespace has guides to help with this.

  • Etsy is a great marketplace, especially when you’re just starting out—but it has limitations.

    If you want more:

    • Branding control

    • Credibility as a business

    • Direct customer relationships
      ...then a website is essential.
